Chaplin, der die Eigengesetzlichkeit des Films entdeckt hat, beutet seine visuellen Themen aus wie Wagner musikalische Motive. Sehen Sie sich einmal A DAY’S PLEASURE an! Aus einem Klappstuhl, den er aufzustellen versucht, seinem feuerspeien- den kleinen Auto, einem Haufen dampfenden Teers holt er alle Komik heraus, die ihnen, ohne dass das Gleichgewicht der Farce gestört wird, abzugewinnen ist. Man sperre Chaplin in einen Keller, einen Kramladen, ein leeres Zimmer; ich wette, er würde auch hier sein Weltpublikum zu Lachorgien hinreissen. Chaplin ist der grösste Filmautor, von dem künftige Szenaristen lernen sollten. Über Chaplin scheint bereits alles gesagt. Remarks and general Information in German: Charlie Chaplin in einer ungewohnten Rolle als Familienvater, der mit seiner Frau und den Kindern einen Sonntagsausflug unternimmt. Mit dem Auto fahren sie zum Quai und verbringen einen Nachmittag auf einem Vergnügungsdampfer. Hier gibt es allerhand Aufregung, und als die Familie schliesslich wieder an Land geht, gibt es auf der Rückfahrt auch noch Ärger mit der Polizei.
