Reviews in German: "Plot outline: Carey Jackson (Montgomery), returning war correspondent, is ì
dismayed to learn of his new assignment -- covering a small-town wedding for ì
Home Life magazine. Even more dismaying is the fact that he'll be working ì
for Linda Gilman (Davis), an old flame he jilted to go off to Berlin. ì
Tiresome b-storyline about the small-town wedding, which is too dull to ì
relate.

Bette Davis just isn't suited to comedy. She was pretty good in The Man Who ì
Came To Dinner, but then that had the benefit of several penguins waddling ì
around. Montgomery makes with the big eyes too much, as if trying to ì
out-Bette-Davis-eyes Ms. Davis herself. The score is really annoying, ì
particularly in one scene where Davis and Montgomery keep turning the lamps ì
on and off -- the score nearly cries out, "Hey, it's a COMEDY!"

In the hands of actors more comfortable with the material, it might have been ì
a nice little comedy. Myrna Loy and Cary Grant, maybe. As it stands, ì
though, it's not much to write home about.

Final rating: ** out of *****" (movies.stennieville.com/ ì
