Edward Dmytryk was born on September 4, 1908 in Grand Forks, BC, Cadana. He was an American Režisér, known for Warlock (1959), The Caine Mutiny (1954), Raintree County (1957), Edward Dmytryk's first movie on record is from 1935. Edward Dmytryk died on July 1, 1999 in Encino, CA, USA. His last motion picture on file dates from 1976.
Zivotopisné poznámky (v němčině): "Edward Dmytryk, 1908 als Sohn ukrainischer Immigranten in Kanada geboren, kam bereits im Alter von 15 Jahren zum Film. Zunächst arbeitete er als Bote bei Paramount Pictures, bevor er dann über die Arbeit am Schnitt zur Regie kam. Den ersten Achtungserfolg erzielte Dmytryk 1943 mit dem antifaschistischen Drama "Hitler's Children". Die Filmkritiker überzeugte er 1947 mit "Crossfire", der als erster ernsthafter Film Hollywoods zum Thema Rassendiskriminierung gilt. Im gleichen Jahr wurde Dmytryk wegen kommunistischer Verbindungen zu einem Jahr Gefängnis verurteilt. Anschließend emigrierte er nach England und drehte dort bis zu seiner Rückkehr in die USA drei Filme. Insgesamt hat Dmytryk über 50 Filme realisiert, darunter "film noir"-Klassiker wie "Crossfire" und "Murder, My Sweet" sowie Abenteuerfilme wie "The Caine Munity" ("Die Caine war ihr Schicksal") mit Humphrey Bogart.
