André Deed was born under the given name Henri André Augustin Chapais on Februar 24, 1884 in Le Havre. He was a French Schauspieler, Regisseur, known for Cretinetti re dei ladri (1909), Come fu che l'Ingordigia rovinò il Natale a Cretinetti (1910), Les débuts d'un Chauffeur (1907), André Deed's first movie on record is from 1907. He was married to alentina Frascaroli. André Deed died on October 4, 1940 in Paris. His last motion picture on file dates from 1921.
Biographical Notes in German: Schauspieler und Komiker des französischen Stummfilms, eigentlich Henri André Augustin Chapais. Ursprünglich Artist im Music Hall drehte Deed wahrscheinlich einige Filme für Méliès, ohne allerdings genannt zu werden. 1906 kam er zu Pathé und wurde dort in der Rolle des «Boireau» rasch bekannt. Im Januar 1909 engagierte ihn die Itala in Turin und taufte Deeds Rolle in «Cretinetti» (in Frankreich «Gribouille») um. 1911 kehrte er zu Pathé nach Frankreich zurück und trat wieder als Boireau auf.
Deed war mit der italienischen Schauspielerin Valentina Frascaroli verheiratet, die in einigen seiner Filme als «Gribouillette» auch seine Partnerin war. (lhg 2010)
