Jean Harlow died on June 7, 1937 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1965.
Biografia (en Alemán): Eigentlich Harlean Carpentier, Tochter eines Zahnarztes in Kansas City. Mit 16 Jahren zog sie nach Hollywood und bewarb sich als Komparsin in verschiedenen Studios. Ihre Filmographie nennt eine erste kleinere Rolle im Jahre 1928, knapp ein Dutzend weitere Filme für das nächste Jahr, darunter mehrere Filme für Hal Roach mit Stan Laurel und Oliver Hardy. In Chaplins "City Lights" ist Jean Harlow eine Komparsin in der Restaurantszene.
Zu Beginn der Dreissiger Jahre wurde die Platinum Blonde bald zum Superstar im MGM-Stall: Sie spielt an der Seite von Soencer Tracy, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, Robert Taylor und so weiter. Doch der Mythos Harlow kam zu einem abrupten Ende: Kurz vor Abschluss der Dreharbeiten zu "Saratoga" starb Jean Harlow am 7. Juni 1937 im Alter von 26 Jahren an einer Harnvergiftung. Die letzten Szenen wurden mit der Schauspielerin Mary Dees als Double gedreht. Sie tritt in der Regel mit dem Rücken zur Kamera auf oder verdeckt ihr Gesicht mittels grosser Hüte, Sonnenbrillen oder Ferngläsern.
