Biografia in Tedesco (in Tedesco): «Jane Mallory Birkin schaffte ihren internationalen Durchbruch mit einer Rolle als Möchtegern-Fotomodell in dem Kultfilm "Blow up" von Michelangelo Antonionis. In zahlreichen weiteren Kinofilmen erwarb sie sich einen Ruf als seriöse Schauspielerin. So zum Beispiel mit "Der Swimmingpool" und "Das wilde Schaf". Von ihrem Status als Sexsymbol jedoch konnte sie sich nie ganz befreien.Sie erfreute sich dermaßen großer Popularität, dass das Modehaus Hermes 1986 eine Tasche für sie entwarf und nach ihr benannte: die Birkin Bag. Zwölf Jahre lang produzierte sie sowohl mit Gainsbourg als auch allein Musik.
