Agnès Varda was born on May 30, 1928 in Bruxelles. She was a French Director, Author, Editor, known for Kung-Fu Master (1987), Jane B. par Agnès V. (1987), Les Créatures (1966), Agnès Varda's first movie on record is from 1954. Agnès Varda died on March 29, 2019 in Paris. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1994.
Biographical Notes in German: Jahrgang 1928, entwickelt sich Varda im Laufe ihrer Karriere zu einer Schlüsselfigur des modernen Films und gilt heute als eine der renommiertesten weiblichen Filmemacher überhaupt. Die "Großmutter der Nouvelle Vague" dreht mit 26 Jahren ihren ersten Spielfilm "La Pointe Courte" (1954). In den Hauptrollen sind Philippe Noiret und Silvia Montfort zu sehen, als Cutter arbeitet ein junger Mann namens Alain Resnais. 1961 dreht Varda "Mittwoch zwischen 5 und 7", der in Cannes im Wettbewerb steht, 1964 "Glück aus dem Blickwinkel des Mannes". 1982 gewinnt sie einen César für ihren Kurzfilm "Ulysse", 1985 den Goldenen Löwen in Venedig für "Vogelfrei". Bis heute ist Varda aktiv als Filmemacherin tätig und hat sich mit "Der Sammler und die Sammlerin" (2000), "Zwei Jahre danach" (2002) und "Die Witwen von Noirmoutier" (2006) verstärkt dem Dokumentarfilm gewidmet. Insgesamt umfasst ihr Werk über 30 Filme.
Der französische Kritiker Jean Douchet nennt Varda einmal einen "weiblichen Ingmar Bergmann". (arte Presse)
