Biographical Notes in German: Jean Choux, 1887 in Genf geboren, widmete sich nach seinem Rechtstudium an der Universität von Genf als Journalist der Literatur, dem Theater und besonders dem Film, bevor er 1925 mit "Die Macht der Arbeit" seinen ersten eigenen Film drehte. Neben weiteren fünf Stummfilmen realisierte Choux etwa 15 Tonfilme, wirkte in einigen Werken auch als Schauspieler mit und wurde bald zur außergewöhnlichsten Persönlichkeit der Filmwelt seiner Zeit. Er starb kurz vor der Premiere seines letzten Films "L'ange qu'on m'a donné"." (arte Presse)
