Dino De Laurentiis was born on August 8, 1919 in Torre Annunciata, Napoli. He was an Italian Producer, known for Riso Amaro (1949), Le Streghe - Senso civico (1966), Le Streghe - La strega brucciata viva (1967), Dino De Laurentiis's first movie on record is from 1941. Dino De Laurentiis died on November 11, 2010 in Beverly Hills, California, USA. His last motion picture on file dates from 2001.

August 1919 als Sohn eines Pastabäckers in Torre Annunziata bei Neapel, seit seinem 20. Lebensjahr beim Film, anfänglich auch in Partnerschaft mit Carlo Ponti als Produzent. In seiner 70-jährigen Karriere produzierte De Laurentis ĂĽber 500 Filme und wurde 35 mal fĂĽr den Oscar nominiert: 1956 wurde er mit der begehrte Trophee fĂĽr "La Strada" ausgezeichnet, 1957 fĂĽr "Le notti di Cabiria", bei in der Regie von Federico Fellini mit Giuletta Masina in der Hauptrolle.
Zeit seines Lebens bewies De Laurentiis ein GespĂĽr fĂĽr Film, die nicht nur kĂĽnstlerisch anspruchsvoll waren, sondern auch Publikumserfolge wurden: einer seiner ersten grossen Erfolge war Giuseppe De Santis' "Riso Amaro" mit Silvana Mangano in der Hauptrolle, De Laurentiis produzierte auch Roberto Rossellinis "Europa 51" mit Ingrid Bergman oder King Vidors "War and Peace" mit Audrey Hepburn.
"Ich habe in meinem langen Leben viel Glück gehabt", sagte De Laurentiis. "In drei Kontinenten, in verschiedenen Kulturen, in glücklichen und auch in weniger glücklichen Momenten hatte ich das Privileg mit den grössten Meistern des Films arbeiten zu dürfen..."
In späteren Jahren produzierte De Laurentiis auch einige Flops, die ihm Kopf und Kragen kosteten, wie etwa "Dune" oder das Remake von "King Kong". Dennoch gelang es ihm immer wieder, neue Filme mit beachtlichem Erfolg zu produzieren, wie etwa Ridley Scotts "Hannibal".
Dino de Laurentiis starb am 11. November 2010 in seinem Haus in Beverly Hills, wo er seit den siebziger Jahren wohnte. (lhg 2010)
