Andrews Engelmann was born on May 23, 1901 in St. Petersburg. He was a Russian Actor, known for Au Bout du Monde (1933), Tagebuch einer Verlorenen (1929), Das Geheimnis vom Bergsee (1951), Andrews Engelmann's first movie on record is from 1924. Andrews Engelmann died on February 25, 1992 in Basel. His last motion picture on file dates from 1952.
Biographical Notes in German: Schauspieler russischer Herkunft, floh nach der Oktoberrevolution erst nach Berlin, wo er sein Medizinstudium abschloss, dann nach Paris, arbeitete dort u.a. als Tänzer. Rex Ingram besetzte ihn als deutschen U-Boot-Kommandanten, und in der Folge wurde Engelmann auf Schurkenrollen typisiert. In den Dreissiger und frühen Vierziger Jahren vor allem in deutschen Filmen, nach den Zweiten Weltkrieg in die Schweiz. In den Fünfziger Jahren erhielt er die Schweizerische Staatsbürgerschaft.
