Walter Giller was born on August 23, 1927 in Recklinghausen. He was a German Actor, known for Nichts als Ärger mit der Liebe (1956), Lauras Wunschzettel (2005), Peter Voss, der Held des Tages (1959), Walter Giller's first movie on record is from 1949. Walter Giller died on December 15, 2011 in Hamburg. His last motion picture on file dates from 2007.
Biographical Notes in German: Am 23. August 2007 wird Walter Giller, der bis heute als einer der besten Komödianten Deutschlands gilt, 80 Jahre alt. In Recklinghausen geboren und Hamburg aufgewachsen, begann er nach dem Krieg als Volontär und Regieassistent an den Hamburger Kammerspielen. In "Artistenblut" (1949) kam er zu seiner ersten Filmrolle. Gut zehn Jahre später stand Giller mit zwei Bundesfilmpreisen für die Rolle eines Ex-Gefreiten in "Rosen für den Staatsanwalt" (1959) und für den Part des Ostberliner LKW-Fahrers Paulchen in "Zwei unter Millionen" (1961) an der Schwelle einer großen Filmkarriere. Auf insgesamt etwa 80 Kinoauftritte hat er es gebracht - meist in komischen Rollen, in denen sein Blick zwischen Schalk und Treuherzigkeit auch die durchschnittlichsten Rollen zum Genuss machte. Besonders viele Filme hat er mit seiner Frau Nadja Tiller gemeinsam gespielt. Sie waren ein Traumpaar des deutschen Wirtschaftswunders und sind über 50 Jahren glücklich verheiratet. 2006 erhielten sie gemeinsam den Bambi für ihr Lebenswerk. Die Jury erklärte: "Standen sie gemeinsam vor der Kamera oder auf der Bühne, schenkten sie uns Sternstunden, die unvergessen bleiben." (rbb Presse)
