Biographical Notes in German: "Regisseur James Ivory, 1928 im kalifornischen Berkeley geboren, studierte an der University of Oregon Architektur und Bildende Künste. Seinen ersten Dokumentarfilm reichte er 1957 mit "Venice: Theme and Variations" als Magisterarbeit im Studiengang Kino an der University of Southern California ein. In den 60er Jahren drehte Ivory verschiedene Filme in Indien, deren Drehbücher von der indischen Schriftstellerin englischer Abstammung Ruth Prawer Jhabvala verfasst wurden, die auch das Buch zu "Zimmer mit Aussicht" schrieb. Dieser Film aus dem Jahr 1985 sowie "Wiedersehen in Howard's End" (1992) und "Was vom Tage übrig blieb" (1993) machten Ivory weltberühmt.
