Aleksandra Khokhlova was born on November 4, 1897 in Berlin. She was a Russian Actress, Director, known for Nabat (1917), Po zakonu (1926), Luch smerti (1925), Aleksandra Khokhlova's first movie on record is from 1916. Aleksandra Khokhlova died on August 22, 1985 in Moskau. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1943.
Biographical Notes in German: Schauspielerin und Regisseurin im Sowjetischen Film, Mitarbeiterin und Weggefährtin von Lev Kuleshov. Enkelin des berühmten russischen Kunstsammlers Tretjakov, wurde sie als Alexandra Botkin in Berlin geboren. Aufgewachsen im Moskauer Künstlermilieu verkehrte sie in Kreisen von Balletmeister Djaghilev oder des Theaterregisseurs Stanislavskij. Aleksandra wird als Zeichnerin ausgebildet und tritt in kleinen Rollen in zwei Filmen noch im vorrevolutionären Kino auf. Sie heiratet den Schauspieler Konstantin Khokhlov, Schauspieler des MKhAT, der auch in einigen Filmen mitspielte. 1919 tritt Aleksandra Khokhlova in die Filmschule ein, lernt dort am 1. Mai Lev Kuleshov kennen, mit dem sie fortan Leben und Schaffen teilen wird. - In Erinnerung geblieben ist vor allem ihre Performance als "Gräfin" in "Die ungewöhnlichen Abenteuer des Mister West im Lande der Bolschewiki". Anfangs der Dreissiger Jahre gerät sie in Schwierigkeit mit dem Stalinistischen Regime und es wird ihr untersagt, weiter in Filmen als Schauspielerin aufzutreten - Ihr Onkel war Arzt der Zarenfamilie und wurde mit ihr in Jekatarinenburg erschossen. Mit "Sascha" gelang ihr ein erstaunliches Regiedebüt, und sie blieb zeitlebens Lev Kuleshovs Assistentin. Eine kleine Rolle spielte sie in den Vierziger Jahren in seinem Film "Sibirjaki". (lhg 2008)
