Jelena Kuzmina was born on February 17, 1909 in Tiflis. She was a Russian Actress, known for Gorizont (1932), Korabli sturmujut bastiony (1953), Novij Vavilon (1929), Jelena Kuzmina's first movie on record is from 1929. Jelena Kuzmina died on October 15, 1979 in UdSSR. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1977.
Biographical Notes in German: Georgische Schauspielerin des sowjetischen Films, geboren am 4. (17.) Februar 1909 in Tiflis, stuidierte Kuzmina in Petrograd Schauspiel am Filmstudio FEKS (Fabrik des Exzentrischen Schauspielers) unter anderem bei den Regisseuren Grigorij Kozintsev und Leonid Trauberg. Ihr Studium schloss sie 1930 am Institut für darstellende Kunst (vormals FEKS) ab. Zu dieser Zeit hatte sie bereits ihre ersten Erfolge in bedeutenden Hauptrollen: im 1928 gedrehten "Novij Vavilon" spielte sie die Louisa Poirier, 1929 drehte sie Hauprolle der jungen Lehrerin Kuzmina in "Odna", beide Filme von Kozintsev und Trauberg.

In den Dreissiger Jahren spielte sie in einigen Filmen von Boris Barnet, mit welchem Kuzmina verheiratet war. Mikhail Romm engagierte sie für die weibliche Hauptrolle in "Dreizehn", in zweiter Ehe war sie dann bis zu seinem Tode am 1. November 1971 mit Romm verheiratet. 1942-44 folgte ein Engagement am Theater in Tashkent. Am 15. Oktober 1979 starb Jelena Kuzmina siebzig jährig und wurde auf dem Moskauer Novodevichi Friedhof neben Mikhail Romm beigesetzt.

Ihre Tochter Natalja aus der Ehe mit Barnet hatte keinen Bezug zum Film, sondern wurde Ärztin. Kuzminas autobiographischen Erinnerungen "Die Tatsache, dass ich mich erinnere" erschienen 1989 zehn Jahre nach ihrem Tod. Sie bildeten auch die Vorlage für "Больше, чем любовь", eine filmische Dokumentation des Dreiecksverhältnisses zwischen Kuzmina, Barnet und Romm. (lhg Pordenone 2011)
