Biografia in Tedesco (in Tedesco): Schauspielerin des amerikanischen Stummfilms, Madge Bellamy begann ihre Schauspielerkarriere mit einer Theatergesellschaft in Denver. Ihren Durchbruch erzielte sie, als sie für Helen Hays im Broadway-Stück "Dear Brutus" einsprang. Fox Pictures verpflichtete sie, und Madge trat in einer Reihe von Filmen in den frühen Zwanziger Jahren auf, darunter 'Lorna Doone (1922)' und 'The Iron Horse (1924)'. 1928 spielte sie die Hauptrolle in Fox' erstem Tonfilm 'Mother knows best'. Divergenzen über ihre Rollen und schliesslich ihre Weigerung in 'The Trial of Mary Dugan' zu spielen, der speziell für sie gekauft wurde, führten schliesslich zur Kündigung des Vertrags durch Fox. Es dauerte drei Jahre zum nächsten Engagement, dem Kultfilm 'White Zombie' (1932) mit Bela Lugosi, aber vier Jahre später war ihre Filmkarriere endgültig vorbei.
1943 tauchte sie nochmals in den Schlagzeilen auf, als sie ihren Liebhaber, den Millionär A. Stanford Murphy erschoss, nachdem dieser sie verlassen hatte...
