Fred Niblo was born on Januar 6, 1874 in York, Nebraska, US. He was an American Režisér, known for Ben Hur (1925), The Gangsters (1913), The Three Musketeers (1921), Fred Niblo's first movie on record is from 1913. Fred Niblo died on November 11, 1948. His last motion picture on file dates from 1943.

Niblo startete im amerikanischen Vaudeville und kam ĂĽber Thomas Harper Ince zum Film. 1921 drehte er mit Douglas Fairbanks den Film 'Drei Musketiere', ein Jahr später mit Rudolpho Valentino 'Blood and Sand'. 1926 arbeitete er zusammen mit Greta Garbo fĂĽr den Film 'Dämon Weib'. Seinen größten Erfolg feierte er allerdings mit seinem Monumentalepos 'Ben-Hur', dessen Wagenrennszene in die Filmgeschichte eingegangen ist. Mit dem Tonfilm endete seine Karriere als Regisseur, vereinzelt spielte er noch in Filmen mit und starb relativ vergessen 1948.
