Biografia in Tedesco (in Tedesco): Fred Niblo (1874-1948) war einer der meist beschäftigten amerikanischen Stummfilmregisseure. Niblo startete im amerikanischen Vaudeville und kam über Thomas Harper Ince zum Film. 1921 drehte er mit Douglas Fairbanks den Film 'Drei Musketiere', ein Jahr später mit Rudolpho Valentino 'Blood and Sand'. 1926 arbeitete er zusammen mit Greta Garbo für den Film 'Dämon Weib'. Seinen größten Erfolg feierte er allerdings mit seinem Monumentalepos 'Ben-Hur', dessen Wagenrennszene in die Filmgeschichte eingegangen ist. Mit dem Tonfilm endete seine Karriere als Regisseur, vereinzelt spielte er noch in Filmen mit und starb relativ vergessen 1948.
