Asta Nielsen was born on September 11, 1881 in Kopenhagen. She was a Danish Actress, known for Afgrunden (1910), Der Absturz (1923), Die freudlose Gasse (1925), Asta Nielsen's first movie on record is from 1910. Asta Nielsen died on May 25, 1972 in Frederiksberg. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1958.
Biographical Notes in German: Nach anderen Quellen 1883 resp 1885 geboren, Schauspielerin des dänischen und deutschen Stummfilms, in erster Ehe mit ihrem Entdecker, dem Regisseur Urban Gad verheiratet. Sie war wohl eine der bedeutendsten und vielseitigsten Schauspielerinnen des frühen europäischen Kinos. Nach dem Ende des Stummfilms zog sie sich weitgehend ins Privatleben zurück.
