Gennaro Righelli was born on December 12, 1886 in Salerno. He was an Italian Director, Author, known for Svengali (1927), La Bohème (1923), Febbre di Gloria (1916), Gennaro Righelli's first movie on record is from 1911. Gennaro Righelli died on January 6, 1949 in Roma. His last motion picture on file dates from 1947.
Biographical Notes in German: Regisseur des italienischen Films, debütierte als Drehbuchautor für die CINES und drehte 1911 seine ersten Filme, meist mit seiner Frau Maria Righelli in der Hauptrolle. 1916 von der Tiber verpflichtet, realisierte Righelli mehrere Filme mit Maria Jacobini, mit der er auch in den Jahren 1923 bis 1929 in Deutschland drehte. Zu Beginn des Tonfilms von Stefano Pittaluga nach Italien zurückgeholt, inszenierte Righelli 1930 bei der Cines den ersten italienischen Tonfilm La Canzone dell'Amore. Sein letzter Film datiert aus dem Jahre 1947 Il Corriere del Re und ist ein Remake seines in Deutschland 1928 gedrehten Films Der geheime Kurier, beides Adaptionen von Stendhals Le Rouge et le Noir.
