Günter Rohrbach was born on October 23, 1928 in Neunkirchen. He is a German Producer, Author, known for Tatort - Zabou (1986), Babes in Toyland (1986), Schtonk (1991), Günter Rohrbach's first movie on record is from 1979. His last motion picture on file dates from 2019.
Biographical Notes in German: Nach Germanistikstudium und Promotion über Grimmelshausen arbeitete Günter Rohrbach zunächst als freier Journalist und Filmkritiker. 1961 kam er zum WDR, wurde dort 1965 Leiter des Fernsehspiels und später auch der Unterhaltung und des Familienprogramms. Als Geschäftsführer der Bavaria Film München schrieb Günter Rohrbach mit zahlreichen nationalen und internationalen Erfolgen Filmgeschichte. Unter seiner Ägide entstanden zwischen 1979 und 1994 etwa 30 Kinofilme, darunter Rainer Werner Faßbinders BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ (1979), Wolfgang Petersens DAS BOOT (1981) sowie DIE UNENDLICHE GESCHICHTE (1984, Koproduzent), Hajo Gies’ Schimanski-Filme ZAHN UM ZAHN (1985) und ZABOU (1986), die Loriot-Filme ÖDIPUSSI (1987) und PAPPA ANTE PORTAS (1990) und Helmut Dietls SCHTONK (1992). Mit Dominik Graf produzierte er u.a. DIE KATZE (1987) und DIE SIEGER (1994). Seit 1994 steht Rohrbach als freier Produzent für Kinoerfolge wie Peter Timms RENNSCHWEIN RUDI RÜSSEL (1994), Max Färberböcks AIMEÉ & JAGUAR (1998) und Rainer Kaufmanns Ingrid Noll-Adaptionen DIE APOTHEKERIN (1997) und KALT IST DER ABENDHAUCH (1999). Der vielfach ausgezeichnete Erfolgsproduzent (u.a. drei Bundesfilmpreise, Oscar- und Golden Globe-Nominierungen, Bundesfilmpreis für „Hervorragendes Wirken im Deutschen Film“) ist Präsident der Deutschen Filmakademie.
