Biographical Notes in German: Schauspieler und Regisseur des amerikanischen Stummfilms, laut einigen Quellen geboren in Luzern, Schweiz. Seine Eltern wanderten nach Kokomo, Indiana aus, als er zehn Jahre alt war. Anderen Quellen (IMDb) zufolge wurde sein Vater Paul Santschi in Sigriswil geboren und kam bereits als Kind in die USA. Gemäss einem Census von 1880 lebte der zweijährige Tom bei seinen Eltern in Kokomo. DerSchauspieler selbst scheint die Legende von seinem Geburtsort Luzern verbreitet zu haben.
Tom Santschi spielte als Schauspieler in mehr als 250 Filmen zwischen 1907 und 1932, als Regisseur zeichnete er für rund dreissig Filme zwischen 1915 und 1916 verantwortlich.
