He was an Italian Director, Actor, known for I figli non si vendono (1952), Uomini e gentiluomini (1959), Tosca (1918), Gustavo Serena's first movie on record is from 1911. Gustavo Serena died on April 16, 1970 in Roma. His last motion picture on file dates from 1959.
Biographical Notes in German: Gustavo Serena stammte aus einer aristokratischen Familie und begann sich 1910 fürs Kino zu interessieren. Er war gleichzeitig Schauspieler und Regisseur. Sein bekanntester Film ist der 1915 in den Armenvierteln von Neapel spielende "Assunta Spina", ein frühes Meisterwerk des Realismus. Als Schauspieler trat Serena noch bis in die 60er Jahre hinein in Kinofilmen auf. (arte Presse)
