Hans Albers was born on September 22, 1891 in Hamburg. He was a German Actor, known for Auf der Reeperbahn nachts um halb eins (1954), Bomben auf Monte Carlo (1931), F.P. 1 antwortet nicht (1932), Hans Albers's first movie on record is from 1912. Hans Albers died on July 24, 1960 in München. His last motion picture on file dates from 1960.

Biographical Notes
Deutscher Schauspieler, in Hamburg geboren. Theaterdbüt an verschiedenen Provinzbühnen, auch Zirkus und Varieté in Berlin. Hans Albers spielte erst in komischen Rollen, wurde dann in den Zwanziger Jahren in Berlin ein beliebter Star zahlreicher Revuen. In seinen erfolgreichsten Rollen verkörperte den Typ des unwiderstehlichen Draufgängers.

Albers Filmkarriere dürfte allein schon mehr als 100 Stummfilme in den Jahren 1912 bis 1930 umfassen, in den meisten nur kleine Nebenrollen, von denen viele heute verschollen sind. Wichtigere Rollen hatte Albers erst im Tonfilm, so etwa in Josef von Sternbergs "Der Blaue Engel", wo er den Artisten Mazeppa spielte, für welchen Marlene Dietrich den Professor (Emil Jannings) verlässt. In den Dreissiger Jahren brillierte Albers dann in den Abenteurerfilmen, die einen gewichtigen Teil der (nach 1933) staatlich gelenkten Filmindustrie ausmachte. Bekannte Filme aus diesen Jahren sind "Wasser für Canitoga", "Münchhausen" aber auch Helmut Käutners "Grosse Freiheit Nr. 7".

Im deutschen Nachkriegsfilm spielte Albers dann vor allem Charakterrollen, "Kein Engel ist so rein" wurde sein letzter Film.
