Biographical Notes
Sohn des grossen Russischen Bass, nach anderen Quellen 1907 geboren, die Familie emigrierte 1922 von Moskau nach Paris, und Chaljapin zog kurz danach nach Hollywood, wo er in verschiedenen Stummfilmen auftrat. Seine Karriere blühte nochmals im Alter von 81 Jahren auf, als er von John Huston die Rolle des Mönchs in Annaud's "Name der Rose" übernahm. Seine Zwillingsschwester ist Tatiana Chaljapin Chernoff.
