Maria Forescu was born on January 15, 1875 in Czernowitz, Rumänien. She was a German Actress, known for Die freudlose Gasse (1925), Wer wird denn weinen, wenn man auseinandergeht? (1929), Nju (1924), Maria Forescu's first movie on record is from 1911. Maria Forescu died on November 23, 1943 in ?? verschollen. Her last motion picture on file dates from 1932.

Biographical Notes
Schauspielerin des deutschen Stummfilms und des frühen deutschen Tonfilms, arbeitete bis zur Machtübernahme der Nazis. Als Jüdin konnte sie nach 1932 keine Engagements mehr erhalten, war aber bis zum 23. 11. 1943 unter ihrem bürgerlichen Namen Füllenbaum in der Pariser Strasse in Wilmersdorf gemeldet, danach verliert sich ihre Spur.

Geboren in Czernowitz, im damaligen Rumänien, kam Maria Forescu ans deutsche Mädchenlyzeum nach Prag und bildete sich als Sängerin am dortigen Konservatorium aus. Engagements bis 1916 führten sie ans Carl Theater in Wien, St. Petersburg, die Niederlande, München, Hamburg usw. In Berlin trat sie an verschiedenen Theatern wie dem Theater des Westens, dem Neuen Operettentheater, Metropoltheater usw auf. 1916 gibt Maria Forescu das Singen auf.

Erste kleine Filmrollen ab 1911, war sie in der Hochblüte des deutschen Stummfilms meist in "verruchten" Rollen zu sehen. Ihr Typ war jener der leichtgeschürtzten Zigeunerin. Zu ihren bekanntesten Filmen zählten DIDA IBSENS GESCHICHTE, VERITAS VINCIT, DAS INDISCHE GRABMAHL und NJU. Nach 1930 drehte sie eine Reihe von Tonfilmen, darunter DANTON, ihr letzter nachgewiesener Film ist DAS ERSTE RECHT DES KINDES aus dem Jahre 1932 nach einem Drehbuch von Thea von Harbou.

In dem tendenziösen Werk "Film-'Kunst' Film-Kohn Film-Korruption" (1937) erscheint unter der Überschrift "Sie glänzten zur Zeit der Judenherrschaft" ein Bild von Maria Forescu.
