Anfänglich Schauspieler und Regisseur, Filme seit 1914, als Regisseur seit 1918 vorerst bei Mack Sennett, wo er Filme ähnlich wie Richard Jones inszeniert. Satirische Komödien mit Sidney Chaplin, dann Filme verschiedenen Genres, vor allem auch Horrorfilm. In den späten Jahren auch zahlreiche Fernsehfilme.
