eigentlich Max Landau, Handelsakademie, Bühnenausbildung in Wien, durch Asta Nielsen zum Film. Ab 1915 populär durch das Joe-Deebs Serial. Seit 1921 selbstständiger Produzent und Darsteller. In erster Ehe mit Anna Gigl, in zweiter mit Margot Walter verheiratet. Verübte 1933 Selbstmord.
