eigentlich Anita Donna Dooley, geboren in New York, begann Nita Naldi als eines der Ziegfeld Showgirls. Ihre grössten Erfolge hatte sie in der Hochblüte des amerikanischen Stummfilms als Partnerin von John Barrymore in Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde (1920) und Rudolph Valentino in Blood and Sand (1922) und The Cobra (1928). In der Aera des Tonfilms zog sie sich vom Kino zurück, spielte aber nach wie vor Theater und später auch TV-Rollen. Nita Naldi starb in einem New Yorker Hotel.
