Douglas Sirk was born on April 26, 1897 in Hamburg. He was a German Director, known for Has anybody seen my Gal ? (1952), All that Heaven allows (1955), Sign of the Pagan (1954), Douglas Sirk's first movie on record is from 1934. Douglas Sirk died on January 14, 1987 in Lugano. His last motion picture on file dates from 1986.
Biographical Notes
Regisseur des deutschen und amerikanischen Kinos, eigentlich Detlef Sierck. Für die UFA drehte Sierck in den Dreissiger JAhren die grossen Erfolgsfilme wie "Schlussakkord" und "La Habanera", emigrierte dann kurz vor Ausbruch des Zweiten Welktkrieges über die Schweiz und Frankreich in die USA, wo er unter dem Namen Douglas Sirk arbeitete. Zu seinen bekanntesten Filmen zählt die Remarque-Verfilmung "Eine Zeit zu Leben und eine Zeit zu sterben" aus dem Jahre 1957. In seinen letzten Jahren arbeitete Sirk auch als Theaterregisseur und Schauspieler in Deutschland.
