Synopsis in German
Nach der Ermordung des Familienoberhauptes Geoffrey Musgrave (Frederick Worlock) wird Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) auf den Landsitz der Familie gerufen. Der Tatverdacht fällt zunächst auf Captain Vickery (Milburn Stone), dem man die Ehe mit der Nichte des Ermordeten verweigerte. Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) werden von Geoffreys Bruder Phillip (Gavin Muir) in eine unterirdische Gruft geführt, die ein Familiengeheimnis birgt, das in rätselhaftem Zusammenhang mit dem Verbrechen steht. Wenig später sind auch Phillip und der Butler Brunton (Halliwell Hobbes) tot. Nach seinen Untersuchungen kann Holmes schließlich den dreifachen Mörder entlarven und Captain Vickery vom Mordverdacht befreien. (3Sat Presse)
