Synopsis in German
Liebesintrigen am Hof von Katharina II. Als der idealistische Alexei versucht ist, den Avancen der Zarin nachzugeben, tut der listige Kämmerer alles, um ihn zu jener Frau zurückzubringen, mit der er verlobt ist. Mit Pola Negri (als lasterhafte Katharina) inszenierte Lubitsch seinen Film fern der historischen Gegebenheiten, aber voller kleiner «Touchs». (Locarno 2010)
