Synopsis in German
Mit Hilfe von Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) kann der Wissenschaftler Dr. Tobel (William Post jr.), Erfinder eines exakten BombenzielgerĂ€tes, die Schweiz verlassen und damit der drohenden EntfĂŒhrung durch die deutsche Gestapo entgehen. Entgegen den Erwartungen des britischen MilitĂ€rs, denen er seine Erfindung zur VerfĂŒgung stellt, zerlegt Dr. Tobel sein PrĂ€zisionsgerĂ€t in vier Teile und lĂ€sst diese von vier Wissenschaftlern unabhĂ€ngig voneinander nachbauen. Keiner auĂer ihm selbst kennt deren Namen. Doch der von den Nazis bezahlte Professor Moriarty (Lionel Atwill) entfĂŒhrt Dr. Tobel und findet anhand eines verschlĂŒsselten Dokuments die Namen von drei der vier Wissenschaftler heraus, lĂ€sst sie töten und die Einzelteile des GerĂ€tes entwenden. Es wird höchste Zeit fĂŒr Sherlock Holmes, mit einer scharfsinnigen Analyse den Namen des vierten Wissenschaftlers zu ermitteln und ihn zu retten.
