Synopsis in German
Toni will eine große Opernsängerin werden. Ihre Mutter, eine herabgekommene Chansonette, verkuppelt sie mit dem älteren Fabrikanten Liesegang, der ihr verspricht, ihre Karriere als Sängerin zu fördern. Nach der Heirat erklärt der brutale Liesegang allerdings, dass er Toni keine Bühnenlaufbahn gestatten will. Der junge Italiener Raimondi, der in Toni verliebt ist, will ihr helfen und tötet Liesegang. Dann von Toni abgelehnt, begeht er Selbstmord. Toni geht darauf nach Berlin und wird tatsächlich eine berühmte Sängerin. Aber als sie die Hauptrolle im Stück des demütigen Kapellmeisters "Die Mörderin" spielen soll, bricht sie unter der Last der Schuld zusammen. Erst das Verständnis und die Liebe des Kapellmeisters erlösen sie von der Qual. (www.filmportal.de)
