Synopsis in German
Charlie Croker (Mark Wahlberg) ist ein Meisterdieb. Gemeinsam mit einem Team von Spezialisten, zu dem auch sein väterlicher Mentor John Bridger (Donald Sutherland) gehört, dringt er in einen venezianischen Palazzo ein und entwendet Goldbarren im Wert von 35 Millionen Dollar - ohne dass ein einziger Schuss fällt. Leider befindet sich in den Reihen der Gentleman-Gauner ein Verräter: Steve Frezelli (Edward Norton) erschießt John und taucht mit der Beute unter. Ein Jahr später haben die bestohlenen Diebe den Killer in Los Angeles aufgespürt, wo er seinen Schatz in einer schwer bewachten Luxusvilla hütet.
Zusammen mit der alten Gang, bestehend aus dem Sprengstoff-Experten "Left-Ear" (Mos Def), dem Computer-Hacker Lyle (Seth Green) und dem Fluchtfahrer Rob (Jason Statham), tüftelt Charlie einen raffinierten Plan aus, um dem abtrünnigen Ex-Komplizen seinen Reichtum wieder abzujagen. Eine Schlüsselrolle spielt dabei Johns Tochter Stella (Charlize Theron), die das Talent ihres Vaters geerbt hat und Steves neuartigen Spezialtresor knacken soll. Doch im letzten Moment schöpft Steve Verdacht und will seine Goldbarren mit gepanzerten Wagen in Sicherheit bringen. Für diesen Fall gibt es einen Plan B, und der sieht den größten Verkehrsstau vor, den es in Los Angeles jemals gab. (SWR Presse)
