Synopsis in German
Roberta Glass ist mit einem Badewannenverkäufer verheiratet und führt ein langweiliges Hausfrauenleben in einer Luxusvilla. Um sich die Zeit zu vertreiben, liest sie Kontaktanzeigen. Dabei entdeckt sie die Korrespondenz von Susan und Jim, die sich in New York verabreden. Roberta beschließt, deren Stelldichein aus sicherer Distanz zu beobachten. Von der extrovertierten, punkigen Susan fasziniert, folgt Roberta ihr und ersteht eine Jacke, die Susan in einem Laden gegen ein anderes Kleidungsstück getauscht hat. Als Roberta in einen Unfall verwickelt wird und vorübergehend ihr Gedächtnis verliert, hält sie sich wegen der Jacke, die sie trägt, selbst für Susan. Sie taucht tief in deren aufregendes Leben ein und gerät dabei in undurchsichtige und bedrohliche Situationen. (arte Presse)

Remarks and general Information in German: Als Filmmusik für "Susan ... verzweifelt gesucht" diente Madonnas berühmter Song "Into the Groove". Er wurde in das Album "Like a Virgin" integriert, das 1985 in Europa herauskam und prompt die Charts stürmte. Darstellerin Rosanna Arquette erhielt als "Beste Schauspielerin in einer Nebenrolle" den "BAFTA Film Award 1986" und wurde im gleichen Jahr für einen "Golden Globe" nominiert. Regisseurin Susan Seidelmann bekam 1986 eine Nominierung für den französischen Filmpreis "César" in der Kategorie "Bester fremdsprachiger Film". (arte Presse)
