Synopsis in German
Kurz nach Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkriegs geraten die deutschen Marinerekruten Hans und Erich in Tunis in französische Kriegsgefangenschaft. Mithilfe eines deutschen Fremdenlegionärs gelingt ihnen die Flucht. Durch die Wüste schlagen sie sich nach Ägypten durch, in dessen Grenzgebiet mit den Deutschen verbündete osmanische Truppen gegen die Briten kämpfen. Ein deutsches Kampfflugzeug rettet Hans und Erich vor den britischen Soldaten und bringt sie nach Konstantinopel, wo sie auf ihr Schiff zurückkehren können. Von „Zwei blaue Jungen“, der zum Teil auf dem Schulschiff „Großherzog Friedrich August“ entstanden ist und in dem Marinesoldaten als Statisten und in Nebenrollen auftreten, ist nur ein rund fünfminütiges Fragment überliefert, das eine Sequenz vom Ende des Films zeigt.
