Verschollener Stummfilm aus der Feder des Autoren Carl Mayer. Der wahrheitsfanatische Schriftsteller Johannes Goth schreibt ein Buch, von dem er sich Erfolg allein aufgrund seines ehrlichen Anliegens erhofft. Tatsächlich findet sich ein Verleger namens Assmann, der sich des Buches annimmt und Goth auch weiterhin fördert. Nach dessen Tod allerdings offenbart sich Goth die niederschmetternde Realität: Seine Ehefrau hatte sich von Assmann verführen lassen, nur deshalb half er dem für ihn ansonsten uninteressanten Schriftsteller – später aus schlechtem Gewissen. Goth, der ein "Haus der Wahrheit" erbaut hat, stürzt sich daraufhin am Tag des Richtfestes vom Dach. [www.filmportal.de]
