Protea (Josette Andriot) ist eine Abenteurerin, die sich als Spionin von einem Fantasiestaat anheuern lässt, um einen Geheimvertrag zweier anderer Staaten in die Hände zu bekommen. Protea trägt mit gleicher Eleganz prunkvolle Abendkleider und schwarze enganliegende Ganzkörperanzüge. Josette Andriot verkörpert in ihrer Rolle einen neuen Frauentyp: die femme fatale.
