Synopsis in German
Die Oberammergauer Passionsspiele, die den Leidensweg Jesu nachspielen, sind berühmt und legendär. Der Dokumentarfilm blickt hinter die Kulissen des großen Spektakels, von den ersten Vorbereitungen im Jahr 2008 bis zur letzten Aufführung im Herbst 2010. Im Mittelpunkt steht der Theatermacher Christian Stückl, der vor der Herausforderung steht, einer jahrhundertealten Tradition gerecht zu werden und sich dabei gleichzeitig auf die Realitäten eines bayerischen Dorfes einstellen muss. Zugleich versucht der Film, die Spannungsfelder zwischen Kommerz und Kunst, Provinz und großer Welt, Gott und Menschen auszuloten, in denen die Spiele stattfinden. (www.filmportal.de)
