Der verwitwete Taxichauffeur Bänz vermietet ein Zimmer an den jungen Toni Schellenberg, der am Anfang einer Fußballerkarriere steht. Das Geld braucht Bänz für das Medizinstudium seiner Tochter Irma. Und die verliebt sich ausgerechnet in Toni. Der wiederum mit den Verlockungen der Großstadt nicht umgehen kann. (3Sat Presse)
Remarks and general Information in German: «Nach den Erfolgen als "Polizischt Wäckerli" und leutseliger Briefträger in "Oberstadtgass" schrieb sich Schaggi Streuli mit "Taxichauffeur Bänz" erneut eine Paraderolle auf den Leib. Zwei junge, talentierte Schweizer Darsteller wurden für die Rollen von Toni und Irma ausgewählt: Maximilian Schell, der die Schweizer und die österreichische Staatsangehörigkeit besitzt, hatte in Deutschland bereits mehrere Film gedreht und war auf dem Sprung zum Film- und Bühnenstar. Elisabeth Müller war gerade aus Hollywood zurückgekommen, wo sie an der Seite von Robert Taylor vor der Kamera gestanden hatte.» (3Sat Presse)
