Synopsis in German
Als ein Flussschiffer in einem Kanal ertrinkt, lässt er seine Tochter Virginie in der Obhut des brutalen alkoholabhängigen Onkels Jef zurück. Georges, ein junger Landwirt, photographiert unbemerkt die Szene. Er ist sich nicht bewusst, dass er bald die Beschützerrolle der jungen unglücklichen Frau übernehmen wird.
