Synopsis in German
Unter der erbarmungslosen Anklage von Staatsanwalt Chrysander wird die Tänzerin Martha wegen Mordes zu einer langen Haftstrafe verurteilt. Dann jedoch entdeckt Chrysander Marthas Tagebuch und erfährt ihre traurige Lebensgeschichte: Von einem Verführer mit einem Kind sitzengelassen, heiratete sie einen schlechten Mann, floh mit dem Sohn, brachte ihn auf eine Privatschule und überschrieb ihm ihr gesamtes Vermögen. Sie selbst schlug sich als Tänzerin durch. Als ihr Ehemann sie entdeckte und bedrohte, erschoss sie ihn. Chrysander ist von dieser Geschichte so ergriffen, dass er sich zurückzieht, um ein Buch mit dem Titel "Opfer der Gesellschaft" zu schreiben. Als seine frühere Verlobte ihn aufsucht, die inzwischen mit einem anderen Mann verheiratet ist, kommt es zu einem Kampf, in dem Chrysander den Mann tötet. Er wird zum Tode verurteilt. Martha versucht ihn zu retten, denn Chrysander ist niemand anderer als ihr Sohn. Aber es ist zu spät: Chrysander wird hingerichtet. (www.filmportal.de)
