Synopsis in German
Der Säufer Juju überredet seinen Freund, den Chansonnier Artiste, einen entflohenen Verbrecher bei sich zu verbergen. Dieser dankt es ihm jedoch, indem er seine Angebetete verführt. Schließlich bringt Juju ihn um.
Der Film spielt in einem der ärmsten, trostlosesten Bezirke von Paris; Clair vermied es jedoch, diesen Hintergrund realistisch darzustellen und verlieh ihm durch die Bevorzugung romantischer Winkel und die Beschränkung auf die Protagonisten, die in einer eigentümlichen Mischung aus Dialekt und gewählter Sprache reden, eine für ihn typische, romantische Aura. Ein Säufer (Pierre Brasseur) und ein Sänger (Georges Brassens) bieten einem gesuchten Mörder Unterschlupf in ihrem Keller.
