In Abwesenheit von König Richard Löwenherz hat der normannische Count de Bourget die Macht in England an sich gerissen. Um seine Position zu festigen, erzwingt de Bourget die Heirat mit der sächsischen Prinzessin Rowena. Erfolglos versucht der junge Sachse Ivanhoe den Normannen zu stoppen. Mit der Unterstützung des schwarzen Ritters, der sich als treuer Gefolgsmann von König Richard erweist, zieht Ivanhoe gegen de Bourget in die Schlacht. (Pressetext)
