Synopsis in German
Hercule Poirot quartiert sich in dem exklusiven Art-Déco-Hotel von Daphne Castle ein, in dem auch Broadway-Diva Arlena Marshall logiert. Sie flittert auf der idyllischen Mittelmeerinsel mit ihrem neuen Gatten Kenneth. Dort wohnen auch der Produzent Odell Gardener, den nur ein Vertrag mit der zickigen Arlena vor dem endgültigen Ruin bewahren kann, und der Schriftsteller Rex Brewster, der seinen Vorschuss auf eine Arlena-Marshall-Biografie verpulvert hat und dringend eine neue Finanzspritze braucht.
Arlena ist zwar frischgebackene Ehefrau, aber das hindert sie nicht, ausgiebig und unter den Augen ihres Mannes mit dem deutlich jüngeren attraktiven Patrick Redfern zu flirten und dessen Frau Christine damit seelisch zu quälen. Als Arlena erwürgt am Strand aufgefunden wird, ist keiner allzu erstaunt, am wenigsten Hercule Poirot. Doch er steht vor einem großen Problem. Alle Anwesenden haben ein gutes Motiv, aber auch ein ebenso gutes Alibi. (BR Presse)
