Synopsis in German
Helen ist unglücklich verheiratet mit dem stillen, duldsamen Victor und ertränkt ihren Kummer im Alkohol. Aber sie hat ein Ohr für talentierte Solisten. Durch Helens Unterstützung wird Pauls Debüt als Konzertviolinist ein beachtlicher Kritikererfolg. Der berühmte Dirigent Anatol Hagerström nimmt das aufstrebende Talent in sein Orchester auf, Pauls Karriere schreitet voran. Helens Interesse an Paul ist nicht nur künstlerischer Natur, und auch Paul verliebt sich in die attraktive Frau. Als Victor von der Affäre seiner Frau erfährt, lässt er sich scheiden. Paul und Helen heiraten, doch ihre ohnehin schon schwierige Beziehung wird dadurch nicht einfacher. Helen kann es nicht ertragen, dass Paul voller Ehrgeiz steckt und seine ganze Erfüllung in seiner Musik findet, neben der sie in seinem Leben nur die zweite Geige spielt. Während Paul auf der Konzertbühne einen seiner größten Triumphe feiert, nimmt Helen sich das Leben.... (ARD Presse)
