Synopsis in German
Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts – Gestalten am Rande der Gesellschaft, deren Wege sich auf einer Landstrasse kreuzen: Ein entflohener Sträfling bricht in einen abgelegenen Bauernhof ein. Als er sich in der Scheune verstecken will, wird er vom Hausherrn ertappt und erschlägt ihn. Ein Landstreicher, der Unterschlupf sucht, wird irrtümlich für den Mörder gehalten und verhaftet. Im Gefängnis erkrankt er schwer und kommt ins Lazarett, wo er nach seiner Genesung als Helfer bleiben darf. Dort wird eines Tages der wirkliche Mörder eingeliefert und gesteht sterbend seine Tat. Der Landstreicher wird wieder in die Freiheit entlassen und kehrt zurück auf die Landstrasse. (www.filmportal.de)
