einer aus Amerikaner japanischer Herkunft zusammengestzten Infanterieeinheit ì
und ihres anfänglich bigotten texanischen Leutnants (Van Johnson). Er ist ì
einer der wenigen Filme aus den USA, der sich mit der Problematik der ì
amerikanischen Regierung gegenüber einer nicht kleinen Minderheit von ì
Mitürgern beschäftigt: die Behörden hatten nämlich ohne viel Federlesen ì
Tausende Amerikaner japanischer und anderer Herkunft in Lagern isoliert. ì
Soldaten dieser Einheit starben für Amerika, während ihre Angehörigen zu ì
Hause in den amerikanischen Lagern interniert waren. - Es ist Pirosh's ì
Verdienst, dass das Bild der offiziellen amerikanischen Politik hier etwas ì
differenzierter wird, auch wenn der Film im übrigen kaum über dem ì
Durchschnitt der US-Kriesfilm herausragt. Einer der besten Momente des Films ì
ist wohl die Szene, in welcher sich der deutsche Offizier von Japanern ì
