Fanette kann ihre große Liebe nicht vergessen und sie träumt von einem Rendezvous auf der Spitze des New Yorker Empire State Buildings. Ganz wie in ihrem Lieblingsfilm, den sie immer wieder im Kino sieht, 'An Affair to remember' mit Cary Grant und Deborah Kerr. Als Autorin eines Buches über einen Maler kommt sie nach New York, wo Fotos von den Bildern gemacht werden sollen. Der Fotograf ist Matt, der von der attraktiven Frau sehr angezogen ist. Auch sie ist nicht immun gegenüber seinem herben Charme, doch ihre Vorstellung und Erwartungen von diesem Rendezvous im Empire State Building macht das Zusammensein der beiden zu einem emotionalen Verwirrspiel...
