Warum Hollywood diesen europäischen Hit nicht einfach nachdrehte, sondern eine schwächere Variante des Themas austüftelte, bleibt unklar. Hier ist der Nesthocker ein durchtrainierter Fun-Typ namens Trip, der als Dauergast im Hotel Mama & Papa seine Bindungsangst kaschiert. Deshalb engagieren seine Eltern die smarte Paula, die hauptberuflich Männer wie Trip anflirtet, um ihnen so zu Selbstvertrauen und dem Bedürfnis nach eigenen vier Wänden zu verhelfen. - Ein blöder, unlogischer Plan. Denn natürlich verliebt sich Paula in ihren Klienten, während Trip den Bluff durchschaut. Es gibt ein paar halbwegs drollige Ideen im Film, doch die bislang nur durch TV-Sitcoms trainierten Drehbuchautoren hatten offenbar keine Ahnung, wie man diese Ideen zu einem dramaturgisch schlüssigen Gesamtwerk zusammenfügt. Das Ergebnis ist eine holprige Nummernrevue, in der weder zwischen den reichlich chargierenden Protagonisten noch zwischen Leinwand und Publikum der Funke überspringt." (Cinema)
